Buccal fat removal, also known as removal of "chipmunk cheeks", is a cosmetic procedure that permanently removes excess fat in the cheeks through a small incision of 1-1.5 cm in the mucosa of the mouth on the inside of both cheeks. This leaves no visible scars and minimizes pain for the patient. The entire procedure usually takes about an hour.
